Third and Sixth Grade CogAT Testing
During the week of October 20th, 2014 all third graders and sixth graders will take the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT). This standardized test measures general thinking and problem-solving skills that students have learned through both in-school and out-of-school experiences. The CogAT indicates how well students can solve problems involving words (verbal), numbers (quantitative), and symbols (non-verbal). Teachers can use data from the CogAT to help students learn more effectively.
Our school will not make important decisions about your student on the basis of CogAT scores alone. Information from the CogAT supplements other test scores and teacher observations about what students know and are able to do.
Please help your child do their best on the CogAT by ensuring they are on time and present on testing dates (see below for your studentís test dates). Try to provide a healthy breakfast and maintain a typical schedule surrounding testing days.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation and if you have any questions please donít hesitate to email Nancy Roberts, nroberts@lewispalmer.org.
We look forward to sharing your studentís results with you.
Testing dates and times for all 3rd and 6th graders: Oct 22-24 from 9:00-10:00am
